Lucky the cow escaped from her pasture and walk over a weak septic tank cover which collapsed dropping her into the tank.
Responders from Charleston County Rescue Squad, St. Pauls Fire Dept., Emergency Preparedness, S.O. Sheriffs Office and Animal Control, Edisto Equine Clinic responded to assist in the rescue.
The incident happened shortly after members of the squad and S.O. Animal Control had attended a Large Animal Rescue Course at the SC Fire Academy.
After pumping out some of the ... stuff ... rescuers used fire hose, provided by St. Pauls Fire Dept., to make a sling and raise her from the tank.
Two day later Lucky gave birth to a calf which the farmer named "Lucky Kenny" after its mom and Kenny Mercer, the primary rescuer on this mission.
